Well child
Isaac had his 2 month well child visit today. It's no surprise this boy is big. Weight is 15 lbs 5oz. Height 24.5 inches. He is in the 90 th percentile for weight, height, and head circumference. He's proportionally big. His social cues are great and he is very curious of his surroundings. His neck control is very good and he's a strong baby. He still isn't too keen on taking a pacifier.

Eyelashes and sleep and talking
Isaac grew eyelashes last week.
He has been having a 5-6 hour stretch of sleep at night.
When smiling he has started talking. Oooohh and ah-goo.

Icicles
I walked Alex to school Friday morning. He talked the entire way and was certain that his legs were going to turn into icicles. It was 34 degrees and the walk is mostly in the shade. The high for the day was 70, so I don't feel bad about sending him to school in shorts.

Talking in the car
Amelia says in the car, " I can't sleep if there is talking." She was the only one talking.

We gave Isaac a bath last night. I thought he would scream but he just hung out. He didn't cry until we got him out.
Isaac had a dr appt this morning. Dr. Monroe said everything is good and there is no need to worry about the infection any more. I was reading through the discharge papers and the diagnosis was sepsis. That's scary stuff, I am glad they didn't put a name to it while we were there. His weight is 9 lbs 2 oz. we will go back for his 2 month well child exam.

We get to go home today! The IV sites kept going bad so the pediatrician said if blood count is good and crp's are at 1.5 or lower then we get to go.
Jeremy and the kids will come pick us up after sacrament meeting.

Bili levels down to 11. Don't need the lighted bed anymore.
Ampicillin and gentamicin are the antibiotics. He gets a treatment every 8 hours.
Had to move the IV again. It has gone from the left hand, to head, to left hand, to right hand, and left hand again.
Jeremy took the kids to see Planes and lost his wallet.

Bili levels at 16.2.
Moved the IV to his head. Looks worse but doesn't get in the way as much as having it on the wrist.
Last IV of antibiotics will be Monday morning.
Will continue with bili lights through today and probably tomorrow too.
Jeremy, Don, Shirley, and the kids came for the afternoon. Alex was enthralled with baby Pacman, as I expected. He held him several times and checked him all out. All of him was cute according to Alex. Amelia took a little while to warm up to him. She was very concerned about the IV on his head and his belly button. She didn't want to hold him but wanted to sit on my lap while I held him.

A tough day for me emotionally. Amelia came into the bathroom in the morning excited to see me and says, "Mama, did you come to pick me up?". It's hard not to be together.
The doctors did their rounds at the NICU. Isaac will be moved to the newborn nursery and they have a room that we can stay in. So far all viral cultures have came back negative. His blood counts are still showing signs that he's fighting an infection. Took him off the IV for fluids. I got to hold him a lot this morning and Jeremy fed him a bottle. I have been able to nurse him followed by supplemental formula.

Dr. Monroe wants to send Isaac to Burlington since his numbers haven't improved. The transport team from Burlington will come in the afternoon.
Isaac was able to be in the room with me all morning. Don, Shirley, Jenn, and the kids were going to come by after lunch to hold Isaac but he had to go under the bili lights.
I was discharged around 1 so I could go home and gather whatever I might need for a stay in Burlington.
Th transport team arrived at the hospital about 3 to get Isaac ready to go. The team consisted of three nurses from the hospital (PA, RN, and a respiratory nurse). Also two specially trained nurses from the FACT critical care transport team. Isaac was in good hands.
We left about the same time the transport team did.
First order of business upon isaacs arrival to Burlington was doing a spinal tap to see if that would help determine where the infection is originating from.
We waited until after the spinal tap was done so we could see Isaac then drove to Peru for the night.

Isaacs birth
2:30 wake up to use the restroom
Have a hard time falling back to sleepAmelia wanders into our room to sleep
She isn't falling back to sleep so I take her into baby Pacmans room to lay with me on the futon. 3:30 I am laying there and realize that I am having contractions. I go downstairs to take a shower and see is they subside. They don't so I start timing them using an app on my phone. Contractions are 2-3 minutes apart. Amelia has wandered downstairs, I have her go upstairs and wake up Jeremy.
Jeremy takes a shower while I call David and the hospital.
Head to the hospital about 5:00.
Dilated to a 5.
Contractions are bearable after the nubane in the IV. That stuff knocks me out. I thought I was going to fall asleep when I should have been pushing.
Isaac Scott Evans is born at 6:58 am, 9 lbs 1 oz. 21 inches. He's much bigger than Amelia and Alex. Maybe there was some gestational diabetes later in pregnancy. Jeremy said he wouldn't have believed Isaac was ours if he hadn't seen him come out. And there weren't any other babies in the nursery to confuse him with.

The cup song
The girls were over this afternoon making bracelets for young women's. Amelia wanted Ally to play the cup song on her phone. The lyrics say: you're gonna miss me when I'm gone. You're gonna miss me by talk, oh, you're gonna miss me when I'm gone. Amelia hears it as: you're gonna miss me by my taco. And says: you're gonna miss me by my taco! That's silly!
She is upstairs singing it to herself as such.

Temple
Learned some things In the temple today. These are my own interpretations.
1. Angels will act as sentinels to keep out or allow people to enter a kingdom.
2. Entrance to a kingdom is dependent on having certain ordinances done, especially for men with their requirement to receive priesthood, and obedience to eternal laws. In other words, obedience to one law may qualify for one kingdom upgrade but won't be enough for exaltation. The method for determining the kingdom you obtain may be more rational or systematic then I had presumed.
As I waited to proceed to the veil I thought to myself, Prescilla will be able to watch her father go rough the endowment. In the celestial room Prescilla said she watched me and saw her father proceeding rough the veil.

Ultrasound
We had the ultrasound for baby #3 this morning. We will be adding a baby boy to the mix Aug. 23. All measurements were good. The ultrasound tech was very talkative and explained everything as she went. She didn't have an appointment right after us so she spent extra time trying to get some good pictures. The profile looks just like Alex and Amelia's. I showed the kids the picture of the profile, foot, and arm/hand. Alex said the profile looked like an skeleton. I told them they were pictures of the baby in my tummy. Alex placed his hand on my stomach and said, "Mom, you are going to get a fat stomach!". They both said they wanted a boy baby. Alex said we should name him Alex Clark Evans just like him. Amelia didn't say a whole lot which is unusual for her.
Workers
A couple days ago, Amelia helped me replant between the fence and sidewalk and move some perennials around. In her deep voice she kept telling me, "We are workers today, Mom!". She was a really good little helper. She would sweep the dirt off the sidewalk, help dig holes and scoop dirt, and make footprints in the dirt. She sure is a lot of fun to have around.
