Miriah was teaching Alex and Malea about the prophets of the church on Sunday. Miriah tells them that the prophets name is Thomas S. Monson. She then asks Alex if he can say Thomas S. Monson. Alex looks at her and asks "Is he a train?"!

6 month apt

Amelia's 6 month appointment was on Nov. 4. She is now 15 lb 12 oz and 26.75 inches. She is growing good. Amelia started sitting without support about 3 weeks ago. She started eating rice cereal at about 5 months and since her appointment has had applesauce and bananas. She also sleeps through the night most of the time. She is still very particular. If Jeremy or myself is around she prefers to be held by us and no one else. She will hardly let Shirley and Don hold her or anyone else for that matter.

Amelia is a roller! She has been so close to rolling for about a week and finally got herself all the way over this morning.

I don't can see it.
I don't can find mine black train.

4 month apt

Amelia had her 4 month appointment on Sept. 3. She is 25 inches and 13 lb 15 oz. She is growing and eating good. Dr. Munroe commented that she is very girly in the way that she moves and cries.
She has found her toes and rolls to her side.

A little smile
They (science) say its from gas but could she be dreaming about where she was before? I think she could be. I'll have to ask the man in charge when I get the chance!

1 week Apt

Amelia had her 1 week apt with Dr. Munroe and she was almost back to her birth weight weighing in at 7 lbs. We have another weight check in a week. I was glad she has been gaining weight because with nursing you don't know how much they are eating and my milk didn't come in until Saturday.

Amelia's Birth

I had irregular contractions through the night. I slept in minute increments between contractions. I was keeping track on paper when I was having contractions so I would know when they were at regular intervals and how far apart they were. About 5 am the contractions became regular and were 5 minutes apart. The intensity of the contractions also increased. I woke Jeremy up and we went to the hospital about 6 am.
Side Note: This was all during a snow storm! At the end of April! Alex was also born during a snow storm. AND the heat stopped working downstairs. But it was working fine upstairs.
First things first at the hospital. Change into the gown. I was then hooked up to the monitors. One monitoring the babies heart beat and the other tracking the contractions. Mary was next door delivering a baby and we heard it all. That lady was loud. After that delivery (7:30-ish) Mary came and checked me, I was at 7 centimeters and ready for pain medicine. About the same time the contractions increased in intensity and radiated from my back to the front. The nurse put in an IV and not long after that I had Nubane flowing through my veins (8:00-ish). I got light headed and the table in the corner of the room started growing and shrinking. Nubane is good stuff. For me it was like night and day. I was nervous and anxious then I was calm and relaxed. I was sitting Indian style on the bed and would have Jeremy apply counter pressure on my lower back when I would have contractions. Instead of fighting the pain I was trying to focus on staying relaxed and allowing my body to do what was necessary to have a baby. The room felt very calm and peaceful. Mean while they are preparing the room for delivery. I am not sure what all that entailed as I had my eyes closed most of the time. I am not sure why I closed my eyes but it felt good so I did it. It got to the point where I could no longer breath through the contractions and was ready to push. After the first push, Mary broke my water (8:50). We had thought that maybe it had broke earlier in the morning when I was peeing or something. But I guess not. A couple pushes and lots of pressure later Amelia was born at 8:58 am! What a relief that the delivery went so well. And what a different experience from Alex's birth.

38 Week Apt

I was 3 almost 4 centimeters dilated so Mary stripped the membranes and was sure she would be seeing me again soon just not in the office. So many things to do! Sure enough I started having irregular contractions. Jason and Miriah Perkins came over and he and Jeremy gave me a blessing. What a comfort it is to have the Priesthood in our home. Don and Shirley came to stay the night so we could leave if and when needed.

another phrase

A new phrase Alex has been using, "kinda like me"

37 Week Apt

On Tuesday I was 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. Dr. Kirollos doesn't think I will make it to my due date. He did a quick ultrasound and baby girl is 6 lbs. 2 oz. Fluid levels are on the low end of normal but he wasn't concerned.
Final preparations are under way for the arrival of baby girl.

Potty Training

The potty train is back on track with help from Miss Terrie! We started potty training again last Monday but this time we had success. Once Alex figured out which muscles to use to release the pee he has been doing very good at peeing in the toilet. He doesn't initiate taking himself to the bathroom but when reminded he will go.
We are still working on pooping.

Yay for not having to buy diapers for a few weeks!

Papa's nose

An email from Shirley
Don was just leaning into the car to get Alex out of his car seat, and Alex said, "What have you got there, Papa?". Then without missing a beat, pointed to his nose and said, "A big nose?" We all, me in particular burst out laughing.

Dialogue

Dialogue Alex had while playing with one of his cars today.

"Papa drive car,
Grandma sit.
Come see Alex!"

Pajamas

Just about every night Alex goes to bed with pajamas on and wakes up in the morning with them off. If you ask him where his pajamas are, he simply informs you "I take jammies off." About once a week I retrieve all pajamas and books from in between his bed and the wall.

Phrases

Observing and participating in a child learning to talk is such a rewarding job for a parent.

Right now Alex has a few phrases that just make me laugh.
"Yes it are"
"another one" in a sentence Alex would say "I find another one train!"

Today he said "A baby come out and play trains with me?"

2 questions

Alex has two new favorite questions. How? and Why?

Email from Shirley

There was a Priesthood meeting in Malone and I had to work so Shirley went and watched Alex so Jeremy could actually listen. This is the email that I got.

Alex and I found the nursery. First he notice the school bus, then the train, the dump truck and the cash register. He tried them all out, but guess what won out. But he wanted to know where the train cars were. I told him there were any. He was very disturbed by that. After awhile he solved the problem. It was like a light went on. He parked the cash register behind the engine and said "There's a train car.". Then the dump truck. "There's a coal car.". And finally the school bus."There's the caboose.". And then he put a little car with Ernie in it in between 2 of them and called it a coupler, the scanner on the cash register was another coupler, and the loader on the front of the dump truck was another coupler. There's a left over loop of elastic from a tag on the engine. He pulls on that and makes his train whistle noise and then "All aboard". Wow, no lack of imagination!

32 Weeks

We had the 32 week growth ultrasound on Thursday. Baby Girl is about 4.5 lbs and average in growth. Amniotic fluid levels were the same as the last ultrasound.

Prunes

This morning Alex had a meltdown. He stayed in the bath so long that his fingers pruned. He held up his hands and cried.

3 year well check

Alex did very well at his well check. The nurse is always amazed at how happy he is and that he isn't scared of the doctor's office.
Height: 37in 20th percentile
Weight: (forgot to ask how many pounds) 45th percentile

Dr. Monroe said that Alex is probably due for a growth spurt. I think he will be due for a growth spurt for the rest of his life. Alex is short and healthy.

big belly

Today Alex has informed me twice that, "Mom a big belly!". He says this while rubbing my stomach. I would feel offended if I wasn't 7 months pregnant.

Jingle Bells

Last night on the way home from Plattsburgh Alex was whispering Jingle Bells. His singing voice is so soft and sweet. I love my little boy.

I'm awake

This happened a couple weeks ago.
Alex woke up in the morning, we went down stairs, and were sitting on the couch with a blanket. I was enjoying the peace and snuggles from my little man. After about 15 minutes of snuggling quietly, Alex suddenly sits up, pulls the blanket off, looks at me and says "Oh, I'm awake!". And then he was off and asking for a bowl of cereal.
